Start those engines…The Village is revving up for TARGA !

Havelock North is looking forward to hosting the national Targa Rally, which will start and finish in the Village.

As well as the 60 plus cars which will be racing, over 100 other high profile cars will be on display throughout the weekend, including the ultimate in Jaguars, Ferrari’s and Porsches.

The Havelock North Business Association is helping organize the event and create some atmosphere for the competitors.

Executive Member, Jane Mackersey is excited about dressing the village up in black and white.

‘The Village is embracing a black &white checkered racing theme and we have lots of additional activities planned for the onlookers and families to enjoy. This certainly won’t just be a petrol head fulled weekend. There will be something for everyone to enjoy.

‘TARGA love coming to the Bay, love the challenge of our roads, love sharing their cars with us & talking to us and Love the warm welcome by The Village.’

During TARGA weekend The Village is also Fundraising for the Havelock North Voluntary fire brigade and the firemen will be responsible for washing the rally cars when they finish each day.

A fashion parade at Malo Restaurant has also been organized to raise money for the Fire Brigade as well as an auction for rally car seats.

‘Many of the Village Fashionistas have got behind the event and kindly donated some amazing spot prizes. There is about $2500 worth of spot przes up for grabs,’ said Mrs Mackersey.

The cars start outside Porters Boutique Hotel on Saturday and the finish line is positioned outside Diva and the Rose and Shamrock.

‘It’s always quite a spectacle so we encourage everyone to come on down and cheer on the cars! Let’s Love Targa.’
