Havelock North Village

Situated at the heart of Hawke’s Bay Wine Country, Havelock North village nestles on the Heretaunga plains at the foot of spectacular Te Mata Peak. The majestic “Sleeping Giant” silhouette by the crags on the skyline, provides a dramatic backdrop. Named after a hero of the Indian Mutiny, Sir Henry Havelock, the village has grown enormously since the first sections were auctioned in 1860 and is now a highly desirable residential area. The vibrant center combines the charm of a village with cosmopolitan flair and there are plenty of attractive places to sit and soak up the atmosphere in the sunny Mediterranean climate.

The Village with a Buzz

This is a little village with social and sport events to match any city for a population of under 20,000.  This little village has a vibrant and enthusiastic community of active, artistic, and well informed people.

The Black Barn Market

Havelock North village a market day every Saturday during the summer months November to March at the Black Barn Vinyards venue.  The producers of quality foods sell their wares to the public.  From beautiful syrups, meats, vegetables, fruit, cheeses, and breads the shopper is treated cuisine at its best.

Triple Peaks

There is huge community involvement in this event.  People come from all over New Zealand to participate in this highly popular event which can be a team or individual effort. For walkers, runners and bikers this event covers Mt Erin, Mt Kahuranaki and historic Te Mata Peak.

The Black Barn Cinema

Experience outdoor concerts and cinema at the Black Barn ampitheatre at Black Barn Vineyards.  The public can picnic with fabulous food and wine to buy at the venue on the terraces while watching a live show or film.

Fundraising

The Havelock Community Kindergartens gather together to make one spectacular event in the village on the Karamu Stream.  The children raise money by buying ducks to raise money for their kindergarten.  The community's Fire Brigade help with this event and is a spectacle for young and old.

The Model Railway

Ride the minature trains at the Keirunga gardens where train enthusiasts from Hawke's Bay meet every month to entertain the public with great train rides around the gardens.  This is a favourite with the young and old.  There is food and drink available on the day.
